Dr Lawrence Pratchett is CEO of the Australian School of Global Studies (ASGS), and Professor of Politics at the University of Canberra, Australia.

An internationally renowned scholar with over 5000 citations, he has published extensively on issues of local democracy and politics, electronic democracy and the development of knowledge cities. He has also been an academic adviser to governments in both the UK and Australia, as well as an expert adviser to the Council of Europe; he was a contributing scholar on the Council of Europes Green Paper on the Future of Democracy in Europe (2004).

As an academic leader he has been Dean of the Faculty of Business, Government & Law and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students, Partnerships and International) at the University of Canberra, helping it to its ranking in the Top 200 universities in the world (THE 2021). Previously, he was Head of the Department of Public Policy at De Montfort University, UK, and co-founder of its globally recognised Local Governance Research Unit.

As CEO of ASGS he now building a major educational business for its parent company, ECA, that will provide access for thousands of Indian and South Asian students to affordable high quality international education in Australia, UK, Canada and many other countries.
